The Mother's Tree - a musical

kid drawing

A Spruce Glen Primary School Project

At the request of Spruce Glen, Glenn conceived, wrote and coordinated a  musical for the entire student body, approximately 350 children. The  Mother's Tree Project brought together the extraordinary abilites and  talents of students and teachers with those of seven local professional  artists and parent volunteers. Glenn wove a tapestry that included all  artistic disciplines. Supported by Kaleidoscope Arts in Education and the  Huntsville Festival of the Arts, it was successfully performed to sold out  houses at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville, Ontario.

 The disciplines involved included:
  visual arts -
    drawing
    sculpture
    costumes
    sets
    computer generated and manipulated drawings

 language arts - script writing

 performance arts -
    singing
    acting
    dance
instrumental performance - violin, cello and drums photography

 photography
 videography

 production arts
production assistants from conception to manifestaton
technical - sound, lights and backstage
    advertising design

note: The picture above is an example of art created by first grade  students. Approximately 80 drawings were projected onto a large screen  at the rear of the stage conceived as a part of the set design. Each  student's art could therefore be seen by the entire audience during the play.
